Electric Panels

Electrical service upgrades are recommended or sometimes required based on the age and brand of your panel. We recommend upgrading your service every 50 years. If the brand is FPE (Federal Pacific Electric), many times this will fail home inspections and are considered fire hazards. These should be replaced as soon as possible.

The issue that most electrical panels will have is the breakers. What happens is that the breakers wont trip when there is an overload on the circuit, and that causes excessive heat on wiring that can not handle it. The problem is homeowners wont even know that there is an issue since the breakers wont trip.

The age coupled with being outside in the elements is how we determine a 50 year life span on panels. Upgrading your service is also a good investment and increases the value of your home. It can also unlock the potential for expansion on your home, allowing more physical space and amperage availability.

What to expect:

Will we need a permit?

Definitely! Especially on a project of this size, it is required to pull a permit. If any inspection is failed, we will come back and make the proper repairs free of charge.

How long will i lose power on my house?

We typically tell homeowners to expect a loss of power for about 4-5 hours. We will communicate with homeowners while on site when we plan to cut power before we turn it off.

The warranty on panels is 5 years on parts and labor. If anything goes wrong during that time, give us a call and we will come back out to make sure it is right.
